Eddy Olweney, Age 12
To help paint the picture of how difficult it is to find former street boys' true stories, Eddy initially told us that the reason he ran to the street was because his step-mother and father were trying to poison him. He said that his deceased mother told him in a dream that they were trying to kill him, and that he should run to the street. Upon speaking to his grandparents, though, we learned that Eddy hasn't even lived with his step-mother and father in over two years and that he only left their home a short time ago. As you can imagine, he was shocked to see his grandparents at Agape, and was embarrassed to be caught in a lie. So, you can see the challenge of dealing with some of these boys!
