Perry Post #15

So, here are some highlights from our five-hour journey back from Nakuru; believe it or not we had two separate flat tires on the trip back home. To say that the roads are "rough" is quite an understatement!

Baboon Bedlam

So, here's the video of the baboon attacking the Perry's during our safari at Lake Nakuru. It was pretty hilarious experience (because no one was hurt). Just after the baboons raided our picnic lunch, the baboon jumped into Kate's window and she had to kick the baboon in the face to get it out of the car. Needless to say, Kate's new nickname is "Babs."

Activities with the Agape Boys!

Hallelujah! Praise Ye the Lord!

This Is Africa (TIA)

A LISTING OF THINGS YOU WILL ONLY SEE OR DO IN AFRICA!!!

1. Strapping a sleeping 2-year old into a car seat and placing the car seat on top of a luggage cart . . . . allowing my 8-year old daughter to push the luggage cart (following me) down the road at the Nairobi Airport to get from one terminal to another (the sidewalk was blocked).

2. Having a power outage twice in the same day (with no thunderstorm).

3. Having a small herd of cattle (roaming freely) walk past the front of your house (in the middle of a city).

4. Buying a cell phone, then a SIM card, and then buying the minutes for the phone - all for around 3,199KSh ($35).

5. Having multiple geckos in your house, and being happy because they eat bugs.

6. Soaking your dishes in bleach-water after washing them to kill bacteria in the water.

7. Paying for meals and transportation, as well as providing housing for someone to paint the inside of our house.

8. Being able to stop and talk to anyone on the street

9. Drinking sodas from glass bottles.

10. Sending someone money through a cell phone (Mpesa).

11. Being so excited to see Skippy P-nut Butter that you don't realize that you are paying $10 for a jar.

12. Referring to the kitchen staff at Agape as the "Stomach Department."

13. Paying 200 Kenyan Shillings ($2.00) per week for trash pickup.

14. Getting bugs in my computer; yes real bugs!

15. Paying $5 for a doctor's visit, $5 for a shot, and $5 for a prescription (without insurance).
